The Six Most Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book a retreat?

You begin by completing a Health Screening Questionnaire where we ask you important questions related to your medical history. This information is reviewed by a Synthesis team member to ensure it’s safe for you to participate in a retreat. 


If your Health Screening Questionnaire is approved, you’ll be invited to book a retreat. 

How much do retreats cost?

Our Expansion Program costs $6,497.

Our pricing is reflective of the comprehensive experience and amount of personalized care our team dedicates to creating an optimal retreat experience for you, including:

  • Online Pre-Retreat Preparation Sessions
    • Inclusive of three (3) 75-minute sessions in the weeks immediately prior to the retreat
  • A 5-Day Experiential Retreat
    • Inclusive of two (2) psychedelic ceremonies
  • Online post-retreat Integration Sessions
    • Inclusive of three (3) 75-minutes sessions in the weeks immediately following the retreat

All participants will receive an Expansion Program Manual that contains important details, as well as a list of recommended resources.

Travel costs to and from the Netherlands are not included in the program tuition.

Is there a tuition payment plan available?

Yes. After your Health Screening Questionnaire is approved and you’ve signed your CSA, you’ll be asked to select your tuition payment preference. 


You can pay your tuition in full, or you can pay in two installments: 50% at the time of registration and the remaining balance 30 days from the date of registration. The same payment method used for the first tuition payment will be used for the second, and a finance fee of $100 will also be split between the two installments. Those who choose to pay tuition in full will not be charged this fee. 

Why is there a health screening process?

At Synthesis, safety is our number one priority. Although the retreat experience can be beneficial for many, for some it’s not appropriate to consume truffles containing psilocybin. These include people who have medical contraindications relating to their physical and mental health.


Our health screening process aims to mitigate the risk for our participants during and after retreat. We have a dedicated screening team that assesses each application with careful consideration and takes into account the latest research and guidelines to inform our safety protocols.

I’m on antidepressants. Can I attend a retreat?

We are only able to offer our retreat programs to people on certain antidepressant medications. Some research suggests that there might be additional risks involved with the use of antidepressants in conjunction with truffles containing psilocybin. 


We review Health Screeners on a case-by-case basis and pay careful attention to psychological history, medications, and physical health in order to assess if there are any contraindications before we formally approve an applicant for retreat participation. At Synthesis, your safety is our main priority so we do not allow anyone to participate in a retreat who is taking contraindicated medication.

How many other participants will be attending the retreat?

The maximum capacity for an Expansion retreat is 14 to 16 participants, depending on the retreat facility. However, no matter the group size, Synthesis typically operates with a ratio of one retreat facilitator for every two retreat participants.
